Την επέτειο ανεξαρτησίας της Ελλάδας τιμά σήμερα η Google με το doodle της.
“Σαν σήμερα το 1821, ο ελληνικός λαός ξεκίνησε την μάχη για την ελευθερία κατά της Οθωμανικής Αυτοκρατορίας. Κάθε χρόνο, η 25η Μαρτίου είναι αργία και οι πολίτες συγκεντρώνονται να παρακολουθήσουν παρελάσεις σε όλη τη χώρα“. αναφέρει η Google και συνεχίζει:
“Εκτός από τη μεγάλη στρατιωτική παρέλαση, μαθητές παρελαύνουν στους δρόμους ντυμένοι στα εθνικά χρώματα, και κυματίζουν την Ελληνική σημαία τριγύρω να δείξουν την περηφάνια τους.
Στην Εθνική Εορτή, σχεδόν όλες οι επιχειρήσεις είναι κλειστές εκτός από το Μουσείο της Ακρόπολης. Οι πολίτες απολαμβάνουν μπακαλιάρο σκορδαλιά, όπως ορίζει το έθιμο”.

Today’s Doodle celebrates Independence Day in Greece! On this day in 1821, the Greek people rose against the Ottoman Empire to reclaim their freedom.
To commemorate the holiday, towns and villages nationwide host parades as hundreds gather in central Athens to watch a military march filled with triumphant brass music and whistling crowds waving the national flag — like the one depicted in today’s artwork. This event in Athens is a sight to behold, with marchers dressed in white fustanellas (pleated cotton skirts), red fez hats with black tassels, and leather sandals decorated with pom-poms.
Many Greeks continue celebrating throughout the day by getting together with loved ones. They may enjoy traditional dishes like bakaliaros skordalia, a fried cod paired with creamy garlic sauce — and a tasty culinary tribute to the country’s coastal heritage. (Fun fact: Greece has the longest coastline in Europe!)
